The library will be closed on Mon. February 20th in observance of the President’s Day holiday. As with all days that we are closed, NO materials will be due. We will reopen on Tuesday Feb 21st for regular business hours.

How to Make a Happy Valentine!

We have a new winner in our semi-regular book basket raffles. Our Romance Book Basket goes to one of our longtime patrons, who exclaimed “I’ve never won anything in my life”! Well that changed today for June J. and we couldn’t be happier. Look for our next basket drawing in the next few months. All you need is a library card and a love of reading to enter!

Feb 13: Double Your Drama!

After a couple weeks off, Classic Movie Monday returns with a vengeance! From 1944 comes the Billy Wilder directed “Double Indemnity” starring Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck and Edward G. Robinson. Showtime as always is 6pm and admission and refreshments are free. Seating is limited, on a first come, first seated basis. Our second feature for February will be the madcap comedy, “Roman Holiday” on the 27th.

Speaking of Photography

You may or may not know that we are big “phans” of great photography and currently have on display in our reading area a terrific display from local photographer Julie Frances. Our first exhibit was by another very talented photographer Sebastien Barre. He maintains a blog of his work and recently started an interview series. (thanks to the folks at All Over Albany for the heads up!)

Feb 6: Tech Assistance Session

The library will once again be offering folks informal assistance with various technology questions this Monday Jan 30th, beginning at 6pm. If you were one of the lucky ones who received an e-reader for the holidays, or have a question about email, laptops, or apps for your smartphone, we may be able to help. We will also hold  a session on March 19th.

Waterford Museum sponsors Civil War Lecture

On Thursday February 9th, author Joseph Thatcher will present, “Forged for Clandestine Warfare: The Little Known History of a Confederate Secret Weapon”. Jan 23: Classic Movie Monday changes direction

After our gripping courtroom drama, it’s time to lighten the mood a bit, with help from those zany Marx Brothers. “Go West” will have you full of guffaws and snickers, just the recipe for a cold winter’s night! Images of Waterford on Display

We are so pleased to be given the opportunity to display some wonderful photographs from talented local photographer Julie Frances.  These photos were shot in and around Waterford in the last few years and include several taken right after the horrendous flooding of the village last August. Okay the holidays are over, we are on to a new year, it’s time to get serious again about our movie watching! So to kick off the second half of our Classic Movie Mondays series, we present an edge of your seat thriller, “Witness for the Prosecution”, starring Tyrone Powers and Marlene Dietrich! Showtime as always will be 6pm, and admission and refreshments are free. Seating is limited however. Our other movie this month is also serious, seriously funny that is, none other than Go West! starring the Marx Brothers.
